Licensing Authority: Illinois Department of Financial & Professional Regulation (IDFPR)
Licensure Application Requirements:
- ERES Barbering and Cosmetology Evaluation
- Please indicate the state licensing board to which you are applying when submitting your barbering or cosmetology application.

Cosmetology Licenses:
- Cosmetologist License: 1,500 clock hours of instruction.
- Cosmetology Teacher License: 500 hours of teacher training if the applicant has 2 years of practical experience as a licensed cosmetologist within the preceding 5 years. Without this experience, 1,000 hours of teacher training are required.
- Esthetician License: 750 clock hours of instruction
- Nail Technician License: 350 clock hours of instruction.
Barbering Licenses:
- Barber License: 1,500 clock hours of instruction.
- Barber Teacher License: 500 hours of teacher training if the applicant has 2 years of practical experience as a licensed barber within the preceding 5 years. Without this experience, 1,000 hours of teacher training are required.
