Guam CPA Exam Requirements
To qualify for the CPA Exam in Guam, you must meet the following criteria:
Educational Requirements
Bachelor’s Degree (150 Semester Units), must include:
- Bachelor’s Degree with a Major in Accounting:
- 24 credits in upper-division accounting courses (e.g., Financial Accounting and Reporting, Auditing, Taxation, Managerial/Cost Accounting).
- 24 credits in upper-division business courses or their equivalent.
- Bachelor’s Degree with a Major in Business:
- 24 credits in upper-division accounting courses (same subjects as above).
- 24 credits in upper-division business courses.
- U.S. Bachelor’s Degree or Equivalent:
- 24 credits in upper-division accounting courses (same subjects as above).
- 24 credits in upper-division business courses, including 6 credits in Economics, 3 credits in Finance, 3 credits in Business Law.
Additional Notes:
- Candidates may qualify for the CPA Exam if they are enrolled in an upper-division undergraduate or advanced degree program and can meet the education requirements within 18 months of their first exam section. Submission of a Guam Certificate of Enrollment Form is required.
- Candidates must meet Guam’s education requirements before sitting for the exam to transfer grades from other jurisdictions.
Guam CPA Licensure Requirements
To earn a CPA license in Guam, applicants must fulfill the following requirements:
- Work Experience, candidates must meet the following work experience criteria to qualify for licensure:
- 1 Year of Work Experience (2,000 Hours): Required if the candidate has completed 150 semester hours.
- 2 Years of Work Experience: Required if the candidate has completed fewer than 150 semester hours.
- Details:
- Experience must be completed within 5 years prior to application.
- Work can be in government, industry, academia, or public practice and must be supervised by an actively licensed CPA in the jurisdiction of licensing.
- For Attest Licenses: Candidates must complete 1,000 hours of attest work within the year prior to application.
- Ethics Requirements
- The Guam Board of Accountancy does not require an ethics exam for CPA licensure.
