Connecticut CPA Exam Requirements

To qualify for the CPA Exam in Connecticut, candidates must meet the following education criteria:

Educational Requirements :

Bachelor’s Degree (120 Semester Units), at least 46 semester hours in accounting and related subjects, including:

  • 24 semester hours in accounting.
  • At least one course in business law.
  • At least one course in economics.
  • At least one course in finance.

Connecticut CPA Licensure Requirements

To earn a CPA license in Connecticut, applicants must fulfill the following requirements:

Pass the CPA Exam

Education (150 semester units) of postsecondary education, including:

  • 36 semester hours in accounting.
  • 30 semester hours in economics or business courses (excluding accounting).
  • 60 semester hours in general education.

Experience Requirements:

  • For CPA Exams taken after January 1, 2000, complete a minimum of 2 years (104 weeks) of relevant work experience.
  • For CPA Exams taken before January 1, 2000, complete a minimum of 3 years (156 weeks) of relevant work experience.

Ethics Requirements

  • Complete the AICPA Professional Ethics for CPAs Self-Study Comprehensive Course with a score of 90 or higher.
